A Ring to Celebrate Unbreakable Bonds

Hallie dreamed of designing a ring for her mom and best friend, Patricia. She envisioned two rings— worn separately or together, symbolizing their unbreakable bond.

Meet Patricia

Patricia started her family when she reconnected with her high school sweetheart in the 80s, married at 40, and welcomed Hallie at 41. Growing up in a small Virginia town, Hallie’s happiest memories are beach trips, crossword puzzles, and nights watching “Murder, She Wrote” with her mom.

Patricia’s career at the naval base was nothing short of remarkable. She started as a secretary and bucked tradition by refusing to wear the customary white gloves. Despite not attending college, she worked her way up to head of base security answering only to her boss and the captain. Patricia was respected and loved by everyone. When Hallie worked at the same base after college, she was known as Patricia’s daughter—a testament to her mom’s legacy.

When Hallie’s dad passed away, her husband sought Patricia’s permission to propose. Hallie then asked her mom to walk her down the aisle with a heartfelt card that read, “It would really make me smile if you’d walk me down the aisle.” For Hallie’s vow renewal, they shared a mother-daughter dance to Martina McBride’s “In My Daughter’s Eyes.” One of Hallie’s most cherished wedding photos is of her and her mom holding hands. In the photo, Hallie wears a tennis bracelet from her parents, while Patricia proudly wears one gifted by her own parents. This simple snapshot holds a world of love and memories.

The Inspiration

Patricia instilled a love of jewelry in Hallie early on, and they both enjoy collecting unique pieces. When Hallie’s friend Sarah climbed Kilimanjaro, Hallie asked for tanzanite and ended up with two similar stones. Hallie knew she wanted Patricia to have one.

Hallie designed two rings—one for her and one for Patricia. These rings, which are worn separately or stacked together, symbolize their bond. Stacked, they look like holding hands, reminiscent of Hallie’s favorite wedding photo of her and her mom holding hands.

Patricia had no idea about the rings until Hallie surprised her on her birthday. Hallie owes so much to Patricia, who taught her kindness, forgiveness, and the strength to stand up for herself. Her parents always said, “Just keep being Hallie, and you’ll go far in life.”
