For as long as Danielle can remember she had a love for sparkly things, especially gemstones and jewelry. She recalls staring at pictures of diamonds in her family’s encyclopedia and raiding her mom’s jewelry box from a very early age. It took Danielle some time to recognize the signs, but she has now transformed her passion into a fulfilling career. During a summer break in college, Danielle got her first break in the jewelry industry by working at a jewelry store in her hometown. While she enjoyed the experience, the focus on sales numbers and hitting targets didn’t align with her true love for jewelry. It wasn’t until she moved to Tennessee and started her blog, Gem Gossip, that she reconnected with her passion for jewelry. Danielle started Gem Gossip during a pivotal moment in her life. For the first time, she moved away from her hometown, relocating 11 hours away to a new city where she knew no one except her parents and sisters who had moved with her. With no job lined up, she began to doubt her chosen career path. During her free time, Danielle browsed the Internet for jewelry. She quickly realized there weren’t many online spaces dedicated to discussing jewelry, and that’s when inspiration struck—Gem Gossip was born.

Keys have been a recurring symbol in Danielle’s life. Her paternal grandmother, originally from Milan, was never seen without her jewelry. Whenever her grandparents visited Italy, they would return with a piece of gold jewelry for each grandchild, nurturing Danielle’s passion for jewelry. One year, they brought her a gold key charm, which she still treasures today. This piece held a special place in her heart, and the key motif remained significant throughout her life. Though her mom isn’t fond of jewelry, Danielle cherishes the piece she has from her. When her parents first started dating, her dad gave her mom a key necklace, which Danielle now holds dear. Several years ago, Danielle began to seriously collect key charms, further cementing their importance in her life.

Seashells always bring Danielle back to beach vacations and moments of pure happiness. Though she doesn’t take vacations often, she always chooses destinations with sunshine and seashells when she does. Some of her fondest childhood memories are of early mornings at the beach, watching the sunrise, and collecting shells with her sisters. It felt fitting that her first son was born on the weekend marking the start of summer.

Fun fact: Danielle doesn’t drink coffee, has never had a pedicure, and competed in beauty pageants when she was 7 to 9 years old.

Most proud moment: Danielle’s proud of moving to Tennessee in 2008 with just $3,000 in her bank account, no job, and no car. Almost 16 years later, she has built an established business, has a loving husband, two sons, and a house—all thanks to her passion for jewelry.
