Ann is the matriarch of a large Irish Catholic family and is the epitome of a boss lady. She is 96 years old and born on the feast of Saint Ann, her namesake. She is a fiercely independent woman, full of love and compassion for others. Despite her own hardships, she continues to be a source of encouragement and strength for her entire family, pushing them to drive towards their dreams and never accepting less than their best. She is a believer in living up to your responsibilities, the power of education, and that family comes before all.

Ann is without a doubt the head of the household and a no-nonsense mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Ann and her husband were married for over 50 years. She had 9 pregnancies and 7 children (5 boys and 2 girls) in the span of 13 years. Ann has 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and she has always been close with her 6 siblings. While Ann was known for being stern, mainly because she had to be, she has a soft, gentle, and loving soul.

Fierce and strong are words people use to describe Ann. She worked as a nurse for 50+ years. She is very handy and has a great sense of humor. Ann is a beautiful singer. She sang in many groups, including St. Ann’s Basilica Choir, for decades. She suffered sudden hearing loss one evening and was unsure she would be able to continue singing, but thanks to her hard work and determination, she continues to share her gift of song, which warms everyone’s hearts. She’s also full of unexpected surprises and experiences, like weekend trips to her brother’s Penn State fraternity (theme parties were all the rage then too, but they always made it to church Sunday morning) and her days in a high school dance troupe (the 7 tappers).

Ann is a proud Irish Catholic. Her home is filled with Irish memorabilia, family photos and crests. She has a passion for family history and genealogy, mapping her entire family tree. Her favorite getaway was to Ireland with her sisters and nieces. While there they connected with second cousins, who still live in Ireland.  She truly is an inspiration.
