Meet Brenna, the inspiration behind this custom designed open seedling ring.

Brenna approached me with a heartfelt request for a custom ring to celebrate her long-awaited pregnancy. She and her husband endured a challenging journey through infertility, marked by loss, false hope, and unsuccessful treatments. Thanks to IVF, they are now expecting their baby girl in late June.

Brenna envisioned a ring that would symbolize their infertility journey. Together, we created a sprouting seedling ring with a pearl that represents the emergence of new life from a place of struggle and hope. Brenna generously shared more about her journey, and it’s an honor to help her commemorate this significant chapter in her life.

June is World Infertility Awareness Month, and it feels like the perfect time to share Brenna’s journey. As a beautiful coincidence, her baby girl is set to arrive this month too.

Meet Brenna

How has your perspective on life changed since experiencing infertility?

My perspective has changed completely. Hardship has a way of shaping you into a better version of yourself sometimes! I feel like a brand new person some days. There was so much mental, emotional, and physical gymnastics when it came to dealing with infertility: all kinds of medications and fertility appointments, disappointment when things didn’t go as planned, and grief in the face of loss.

When I finally did get pregnant after 3+ years, I found myself appreciating more than ever how much of a miracle life truly is and that when it comes to family – both your given and chosen one –  nothing else really matters. I can honestly say I have begun to prioritize things differently in my life: what really matters vs what is just noise. I have significantly less anxiety and negativity taking up my brain space day in and day out thanks to this new perspective on life. I love my custom ring from Sister Sister because it reminds me daily of what really matters!

How do you handle challenges or setbacks in your life?

I think the most important thing for me to keep myself afloat in the face of challenges is to be open about my struggles to those I trust and lean on them for support. I try hard to stay calm and to not get too caught up in feeling sorry for myself. It is so important for me to accept what I can’t change and recognize what I can – and then make actionable changes in the right direction to keep myself moving forward. Sometimes I can’t do that without the help of my family and friends.

What advice would you give to others who may be experiencing infertility?

As a woman, it is really hard to be told you have fertility issues and sometimes it feels taboo to talk about. If you are going through this, you are not alone and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there to those you love!

The first time I experienced pregnancy loss, my spouse and I tried to face it together in private and it was really difficult. When we started trying again, after giving ourselves some time to heal, we confided in those we trust and love about our journey. It made all the difference for us to feel the love and support.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

One that is sunny, breezy, peaceful and spent with my little family with no itinerary tied to it whatsoever. Maybe we will go to the park or the beach for a picnic; maybe we will just enjoy a BBQ outside with family and friends; maybe we will just drink lattes and read a good book in our garden….who knows! A real, “It’s a beautiful day and we can do whatever we feel like,” kind of day is my idea of perfect.

Make Something Meaningful With Me

While rings are my favorite to design, I can bring anything you dream up to life (think: necklaces, charms, earrings). Tell me your story, or the story of the person you’d like to create something for, and I’ll work with you to design something meaningful.
