Meet Amanda, Founder of Lola & Tae

Amanda Moffitt, a proud Texan, is driven by her love for family. Born and raised on the South Texas coast, she now lives in West Texas with her husband Stuart and their three children: Tatum (Tae), Kole, and Lola Quinn. Her journey from teacher to school counselor to entrepreneur was motivated by a desire to spend more quality time with her kids, as the emotional demands of counseling left her drained at home.

In the winter of 2019, Amanda started creating jewelry at her dining room table inspired by her love for accessories that tell a story. Self-taught, her designs gained popularity among friends and family. By January 2020, with her family’s support, Amanda launched Lola & Tae, named after her daughters. 

Amanda has since left her counseling job to focus entirely on Lola & Tae, which continues to flourish. Driven by her love for family and desire for time freedom, Amanda’s dream is to one day pass the business on to her children. With each piece she creates, she aims to enhance your everyday look with a piece that celebrates you.

What’s a skill or value you hope to instill in your children? Definitely hard work and determination. I am a firm believer that you can do anything you set your mind to. I try to model this for my children everyday through working out, running my business, or even something as simple as trying new things.

What’s a typical weekend like for you and your family? We love being together! Currently we are spending a lot of our time on the island we love. A typical weekend would be visiting the aquarium in the mornings, walking on the beach to find new shells for our collections, and park visits. We also love finding new restaurants on the island, and most days we are at the beach!

What is your favorite getaway spot? Since we have 3 kiddos, our favorite spot to visit (without having to fly) is Port Aransas, TX. It’s a small, quaint island on the coast of Texas. I actually grew up about 10 minutes from this island. I spend weekends here during Summer with my girlfriends. We used to drive out with our surf boards sticking out of the top of our sunroof and spend our time trying to surf and sun tan.

What is something most people might not know about you? My dad’s side of the family is actually from Hungary. We still have a lot of family that live there as well. I dream of visiting our family there one day! Also, I’ve been told that’s where I get my olive skin color from! 😉

What is the most valuable piece of advice you ever received? I actually live by a quote in business and life now because I SO truly believe in it. I always say “If it scares you, go for it” and I truly believe that’s how you grow is by getting out of your comfort zone and really growing.

Our collaboration with Amanda of Lola & Tae was a long time coming. We can’t even pinpoint when it all began, and that’s part of the fun. We started our businesses around the same time four years ago and are on similar journeys, supporting each other and growing along the way.

Amanda’s story, especially her love for her children, inspires this first fine jewelry piece for Lola & Tae. I’m honored to share her story through this namesake ring that celebrates her girls. We kept the importance of heirloom jewelry in mind while designing it—from the 14k gold that won’t tarnish to the quality gemstones, each set in a protective bezel for longevity.
